💨 Abstract
In Culiacán, Mexico, the Ostok Sanctuary is relocating 700 animals, including tigers, monkeys, and elephants, due to escalating cartel violence. The sanctuary, which houses former exotic pets of cartel members and circus animals, has faced armed attacks, death threats, and supply cutoffs. The violence, stemming from a power struggle between rival Sinaloa cartel factions, has made it unsafe for both the animals and staff.
