Witnesses to Felix Baumgartner’s fatal paragliding crash heard large boom as it spun to the ground -
💨 Abstract
Felix Baumgartner, the renowned extreme athlete, died Thursday when his paraglider crashed near a swimming pool at Porto Sant’Elipido, Italy. Witnesses reported seeing the equipment spin out of control, and lifeguards and bystanders rushed to the scene. Baumgartner, 56, was known as "Fearless Felix," having broken the sound barrier in freefall in 2012. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
