💨 Abstract
An Azerbaijani court sentenced seven journalists, including Farid Mehralizada of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and six from Abzas Media, to prison terms ranging from 7.5 to 9 years. The journalists and international rights groups allege the charges are politically motivated, aimed at suppressing media freedom. Reporters Without Borders and RFE/RL have called for their immediate release, condemning the verdict as an attack on press freedom.
