💨 Abstract
Iranians abroad, trying to reach family in Iran, encounter robotic voices answering calls instead. This phenomenon has occurred since Israel's airstrikes on Iran, with at least nine people reporting the issue to the Associated Press. Experts suggest it could be low-tech AI, a chatbot, or pre-recorded messages from Tehran diverted to other countries. The voices are mostly in English, but one has been in Farsi. The voices speak in slightly broken English, offering platitudes or bizarre messages.
