Ecuadorian authorities recaptured notorious gang leader Adolfo Macías. He was found in an underground bunker beneath a mansion in Manta, Manta had been heavily armed searched off by military and police personnel, and Macías was brought to prison forcefully. He escaped from a prison in January 2024. His recapture came after a long manhunt, and Ecuador has announced his extradition to the U.S. for drug trafficking charges.
