💨 Abstract
A court in Athens convicted a former Fire Service chief and nine others for their negligence in managing a 2018 wildfire that killed over 100 people near Mati. The trial was disrupted by protests from victims' relatives after some defendants were acquitted. The fire spread rapidly due to strong winds, leading to chaotic evacuations. Senior officials were found guilty of negligence and breach of duty. Sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday.
