💨 Abstract

In Brazil, women face significant barriers to legal abortions despite the law allowing it in cases of rape, life-threatening risks, or fetal anomalies. A 27-year-old woman denied a legal abortion resorted to a dangerous home procedure. Legal abortions are difficult to access due to lack of facilities, healthcare professionals' refusal, and geographical barriers. Advocates and activists are pushing for better access and legal reforms, highlighting disparities affecting poor and marginalized women.
