💨 Abstract
Authorities in Osh, the second-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, have removed a 23-meter statue of Vladimir Lenin. Erected in 1975, the monument was taken down with little public attention, supposedly for urban planning reasons. Osh City Hall described the removal as a routine measure to improve the area's appearance, and the former statue site will become a flagpole. This comes amid broader efforts to reshape national identities in post-Soviet countries.
