💨 Abstract
Niger's government announced the nationalization of the Somaïr uranium venture, operated by French company Orano, accusing it of taking an unfair share of uranium produced. This move follows months of tension between Niger's military government and Orano, amidst deteriorating relations with France. Niger seized operational control of Somaïr last year and revoked Orano's permit for the Imouraren mine.
