💨 Abstract
The new Syrian government has agreed to allow United Nations inspectors access to suspected former nuclear sites. IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi met with President Ahmad al-Sharaa, who expressed interest in future nuclear energy. The IAEA aims to clarify past nuclear activities and has been seeking access since former President Bashar Assad's fall. Grossi is optimistic about completing the inspections within months.
