💨 Abstract
On July 3, 2025, a rapid wildfire driven by strong winds in southern Crete, Greece, led to the evacuation of over 1,500 people. The fire, burning through forests and farmland, was fought by 230 firefighters and water-dropping aircraft. Evacuees, including tourists, were relocated to safe areas. The risk of wildfires remained high across Crete and southern Greece.
