💨 Abstract
The U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution calling on Afghanistan's Taliban to stop oppressing women and eliminate terrorist groups. The resolution, adopted despite U.S. objections, emphasizes economic recovery and urges aid for Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis. 116 countries supported it, while the U.S. and Israel opposed, and 12 abstained. Germany, which sponsored the resolution, highlighted the dire human rights situation. The U.S. criticized the resolution for potentially rewarding the Taliban.
