💨 Abstract

In Syria, violence flared in two major regions, testing a fragile ceasefire and the transitional government's control. In the north, clashes occurred between government fighters and US-backed Kurdish forces. In the south, tensions rose as government forces confronted armed Druze groups, breaking a tenuous truce. The Syrian government is struggling to consolidate power, facing backlash from political opponents and minority groups who suspect their de facto Islamist rule.
