💨 Abstract
Hurricane Gil, located about 1,160 miles west-southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and is moving west-northwest at 20 mph. The storm is not expected to threaten land and is forecast to weaken rapidly over the weekend. Another storm, Iona, has downgraded to a tropical depression far west of Hawaii.
