đ¨ Abstract
A 65-year-old pensioner, Hismet Smakaj, saved a 7-year-old girl from drowning in the River Thames. While walking in Thames Barrier Park, he saw the girl sitting on a railing. She suddenly jumped into the water, prompting Hismet to swiftly remove his clothes and dive in after her. Despite high water and strong currents, he managed to pull her to safety. The girl was later treated by paramedics and was reportedly autistic.
