💨 Abstract

The author, a self-employed father, struggled with taking paternity leave due to financial constraints. In 2015, when his son was born, he couldn't afford to take time off without risking his livelihood. Unlike employed dads, he didn't have access to statutory paternity pay. This experience fueled his initiative to found "Dope Black Dads," a community supporting self-employed fathers.
