💨 Abstract
The UK Defence Secretary, John Healey, criticized the previous Conservative government for failing to control the surge in migrants crossing the Channel in small boats. Yesterday, a record 1,194 people arrived in 18 boats, sparking outrage over France's inaction despite previous agreements to intercept such crossings. Healey blamed the current border chaos on the last five years of governance and December's asylum chaos.
