💨 Abstract
Around £400 million has been spent on a secret scheme called the Afghanistan Response Route, which aims to relocate 19,000 Afghan nationals to the UK after their personal details were leaked in 2022. The data breach, discovered in 2023, resulted from a mistake by a defense official. The total cost of this scheme is projected to reach £850 million by its completion, with additional legal costs and compensation expected.
