💨 Abstract

The iconic Sycamore Gap tree, a beloved landmark in Northumberland, was viciously felled in a drunk and vandalous act by two men, Carruthers and Graham each sentenced to four years in jail for their “mindless act of thuggery”. The tree drew thousands of visitors annually. 2,000 worldwide messages were received from people shocked to learn of the devastating loss. Part of the tree will soon be on display at The Sill.
