💨 Abstract

In September 2023, Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers were convicted of felling the iconic Sycamore Gap tree near Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland. The pair, acting on a whim, cut down the 200-year-old tree, causing significant damage to both the tree and the wall. During the trial, they admitted to finding the act amusing. Each received a four-year prison sentence.
