💨 Abstract
Greece has introduced 'sustainable tourism fees' for cruise passengers visiting its islands to combat overtourism. Passengers will pay €20 during peak season at Mykonos and Santorini, and varying amounts at other ports throughout the year. Cruise companies must pay these fees quarterly to avoid penalties. The revenue, potentially over €50 million annually, will help improve local infrastructure strained by mass tourism.
