💨 Abstract
James Cartwright, 61, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 28 years for raping and murdering his former fiancée, Samantha Mickleburgh, 54. Mickleburgh agreed to spend his birthday with him as a "final act of kindness" before ending their relationship. Her body was found at the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Surrey. Mickleburgh's family described her as caring and generous, expressing relief that Cartwright is jailed.
