💨 Abstract
Indian health authorities are addressing a Nipah virus outbreak in West Bengal, near Kolkata, with five confirmed cases, including three new infections among healthcare workers. The virus, spread by fruit bats, has a high fatality rate and no known treatment. Authorities have tested 180 people and quarantined high-risk contacts. The virus can cause severe respiratory issues and brain inflammation, with symptoms including fever, headaches, and vomiting.
