💨 Abstract
In Uganda's Kibale National Park, a group of 200 chimpanzees experienced a civil war, the first of its kind observed. The Ngogo chimps, once harmonious, split into Central and Western groups in 2015 due to deteriorating social bonds. By 2018, the groups became hostile, with Western males killing Central group members and infants.
