On May 14, 2025, relief and joy swept through Rishra, West Bengal, as news of BSF constable Purnam Kumar Shaw's release from Pakistan spread. Shaw had been detained since April 23 after inadvertently crossing into Pakistan during duty near Ferozepur. His family, who had been in anguish, celebrated his return, expressing gratitude to leaders and officials who supported them.
