đź’¨ Abstract
The Menendez brothers, Lyle and Erik, are seeking release from their life sentences, held without parole for the 1989 shotgun murders of their parents. Three cousins testified in their defense, citing rehabilitation while in prison and the brothers’ claims of abuse as children. The hearing, on sexual abuse evidence and prison behavior, could grant them parole eligibility. Former Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon supports this, but his successor, Nathan Hochman, opposes it.
