💨 Abstract
The article discusses the evolving concept of "the West," challenging its vague and often misinterpreted definitions. It argues that the West is not solely defined by geography, NATO, or Christianity. The term emerged around the 1821-1829 Greek War of Independence as a response to geopolitical threats, particularly from Russia. Auguste Comte and other French thinkers promoted the idea of the West as a bulwark against Russian expansion.
