💨 Abstract
Beyond 2025, South Africa's core SASSA grants face significant changes that may reduce the number of beneficiaries. The government's social welfare budget will decrease from R285 billion in 2025/26 to R260 billion by 2027/28. This, coupled with inflation and population growth, makes it challenging to maintain the current number of recipients.
