💨 Abstract
South Africa will introduce branded Ubers and Bolts by 2025 under the new Land Transport Act, operational since 12 September 2025. The law mandates e-hailing vehicles to be easily identifiable, improving safety and regulation. Drivers must obtain licenses, install panic buttons, and operate within designated zones. While the industry welcomes official recognition, concerns arise over driver safety and platform accountability. Non-compliance risks fines or jail time.
