💨 Abstract
French media giant Canal+ has obtained regulatory approval from South Africa’s Competition Tribunal to acquire MultiChoice for approximately R53 billion. This landmark deal, pending further regulatory clearances, will see Canal+ take full control of MultiChoice, known for DStv and Showmax, while ensuring MultiChoice's South African operations remain independent to comply with local laws. Both companies are committed to maintaining current services and the merger is expected to create a significant global media entity focused on Africa.
