💨 Abstract
US-South Africa relations are strained after Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Jim Risch criticized South Africa for hosting a BRICS naval drill with China, Russia, and Iran. Risch described the drill as a sign of hostility towards the US and suggested that any promises from South Africa should be considered meaningless. The drill, "Exercise Will for Peace 2026," is set for January 2026 in Simon’s Town.
