đź’¨ Abstract
The Department of Correctional Services in South Africa has launched bakery facilities within several prisons to reduce costs and promote sustainability. Minister Dr. Pieter Groenewald noted that these inmate-run bakeries save taxpayers millions of rands annually and also provide inmates with valuable skills for post-release reintegration. As of now, 13 bakeries are operational, with plans to expand further.
