💨 Abstract
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia reported an 8.7% decline in South Africa's murder rate for the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, with 602 fewer murders compared to the previous year. Despite this improvement, the country still averages nearly 65 murders per day. Overall violent crime has decreased by 8.3% over the past two years.
