💨 Abstract
Karan Beef, South Africa's largest beef producer, has reported a foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak at its 2,330-hectare feedlot in Heidelberg, Gauteng. Despite strict biosecurity measures, the disease was detected on 30 May 2025. FMD is highly contagious and affects cloven-hoofed animals, posing significant economic risks.
