đź’¨ Abstract
The Department of Basic Education has gazetted draft regulations for public schools, focusing on classroom capacity and school admission policies as part of the BELA Act. These changes aim to address long-standing issues like overcrowding and ensure fair admissions, while strengthening school governance and equality. Minister Siviwe Gwarube emphasized the need for public input, with plans for a national awareness campaign. The regulations will be rolled out in stages, with language policy to be addressed later.
