💨 Abstract

SASSA has raised alarms about unlawful deductions from social grants targeting beneficiaries. Despite claims by insurance companies, SASSA stresses they do not authorize these deductions. Beneficiaries are advised to report such cases and can dispute unauthorized deductions by sending an SMS to 34548. Legally, only one deduction per month, not exceeding 10% of the grant, is permitted for funeral policies, with the beneficiary's consent.
