💨 Abstract
Scammers in the Western Cape are targeting teachers with fake job offers, promising permanent employment in exchange for a fee of around R2,800. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has reported incidents where teachers receive WhatsApp messages from impersonators posing as education officials. These messages request documentation and a fee for the "authorization of an appointment letter." Teachers are advised to be cautious and report any suspicious activity to the WCED and the South African Police Service.
