💨 Abstract

A research group reported that freedom in the United States has declined to its lowest level in 50 years. The U.S. scored 81 out of 100, matching South Africa and falling below several European allies. This decline is attributed to legislative dysfunction, executive dominance, and restrictions on free expression. Globally, only 21% of people live in "free" countries, with many nations experiencing democratic backsliding.
