đź’¨ Abstract
A 39-year-old man, known as DF, killed his one-year-old niece while under the influence of crystal meth. The Northern Cape High Court sentenced him to five years in prison instead of life due to his impaired judgment from drug use. DF was convicted under legislation for crimes committed while voluntarily intoxicated. Despite facing multiple charges, the court considered his background, addiction, and the circumstances of the crime, ultimately applying mercy and allowing for rehabilitation.
