💨 Abstract

Flight prices between Johannesburg and Cape Town have doubled due to new fuel surcharges introduced by airlines like FlySafair and Airlink. This surge, effective from March 2026, is attributed to increased jet fuel costs driven by Middle East tensions. One-way fares have risen from R700-R1,100 to over R1,700, with return tickets exceeding R3,600.
