💨 Abstract
Krill fishing in Antarctica has surged to a record high, nearing a seasonal catch limit that could forcibly close the fishery. The 2024-25 season has already seen 518,568 tons of krill caught, 84% of the 620,000-ton limit. The fishing boom follows the failure of governments to approve a new management plan last year.
