💨 Abstract
In southeast Mississippi, an Army veteran, John Richard, found solace from PTSD through a bond with a spider monkey named Louie at the Gulf Coast Primate Sanctuary. The sanctuary, founded by Air Force veteran April Stewart, also a PTSD sufferer, has become a place of healing for volunteers. The sanctuary houses various rescued primates and relies on volunteers, including other veterans. Stewart hopes to open it to the public next summer.
