đ¨ Abstract
The D.C. Council voted to pause a scheduled increase in the tipped minimum wage, which would have risen in July. Initiative 82, passed in 2022, aimed to increase the minimum wage for tipped workers to $17.50 by 2027. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington supported the pause, citing economic challenges and potential increased labor costs.
