💨 Abstract
A man climbed the radio broadcast tower at American University in Northwest D.C. Campus police have evacuated the south side of the campus and issued a shelter-in-place order. The man contacted 911 around 4 p.m. and is positioned on a platform partway up the tower, carrying a backpack. The tower supports multiple broadcasts; WTOP and WAMU are operating from backup facilities. Authorities are cautiously assessing the situation. This is an ongoing event.
