💨 Abstract
On July 11, 2025, a car accident in Maryland resulted in the death of 56-year-old retired D.C. police detective Carlton Herndon. The crash occurred when an off-duty Prince George’s County police officer, later identified as 34-year-old Anthony Coleman, drove under the influence of alcohol and at excessive speed, striking Herndon’s Nissan Maxima. Maryland State Police confirmed that alcohol and speed were key factors.
