In a historic move, the International Criminal Court (ICC) allowed the first in absentia hearing against Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony, notorious for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The court has scheduled a confirmation of charges hearing for September. Kony, who led the brutal Lord’s Resistance Army, faces multiple charges including murder, rape, and sexual enslavement.
