đź’¨ Abstract
Fairfax County, Virginia, is considering taking over residential trash collection from private companies. Currently, most residents manage their own trash services, but the county aims to create Unified Sanitation Districts to negotiate prices and improve sustainability. While county officials expect lower prices and better service, local business owners like Larry Foster of Evergreen Disposal worry about potential service disruptions and loss of choice. The change, if approved, would take at least five years to implement.
