💨 Abstract
The U.S. government is deploying 700 Marines to Los Angeles to assist in managing protests related to immigration raids. These Marines, who have experience in combat zones, are being trained in de-escalation and crowd control for this unusual domestic role. They will be equipped with protective gear but will not carry tear gas. Their guidelines emphasize self-defense and de-escalation, with strict rules on the use of force.
