💨 Abstract
President Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order ending most U.S. sanctions on Syria, aiming to promote peace and stability. Key sanctions on Syrian President Bashar Assad and his allies will persist. In May, the U.S. provided Syria broad exemptions, and Trump met with Syria's interim leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in Saudi Arabia, promising to lift sanctions and explore normalized relations. The EU has also lifted most of its sanctions on Syria.
