💨 Abstract
Maryland has recorded 11 heat-related deaths since May, with nine victims aged 65 and older. Clifford Mitchell of the Maryland Department of Health stressed the vulnerability of older adults and the importance of monitoring and protecting at-risk individuals, notably those without air conditioning or living alone. Youth and healthy adults engaged in outdoor activities are also at risk.
